» Brighter than human eyes 50mm f1.0 ?
After seeing this thread (http://www.thephotoforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=110230) I browse around for speedy lenses. And surprisingly there is one at least that by right it is mind bogling speed. If any of you is generous enough to donate me to have this lens I will be eternally grateful to you. Considering that I tried not to use flash as far as I can, than this lens is the ultimate of my dream - and it is only in a dream alright. Brighter than the human eye The Noctilux transmits light more effectively than even the human eye, and as the world's first production f/1.0 lens for 35 mm photography, it represents a landmark in the history of photography. Its outstanding contrast sensitively differentiates subtle colors and it...... - 2010-03-09
» Loving ALL japanese food
i am wondering why i love japanese food (sushi, sashimi, sukiyaki etc) and most of my japanese friends can't even stand these foods. one of my japanese mates actually said i was more japanese then her, as she can't stand sushi. i need to hear from people who think it's normal to love every single peice of japanes food. :wave:I think part of it might have to do with the cultural context in which a person was born and lived. I am Japanese-American and I was raised in America, eating largely American food. I too love just about every Japanese food you can imagine (sukiyaki is my favorite!). I only ate Japanese food sparingly growing up (we did eat rice with every meal) so I grew up with burgers and pizza just like everyone else. On more...... - 2010-03-09

» Microsoft Excel -- Convert all + and - to SUM Function
I'm working with a complicated Excel workbook that includes many formulas. Some of them use + and - for adding and subtracting, and some of them use the SUM function. I need them all to use the SUM function. Is there a macro out there or other tool that will convert all the formulas to use the SUM function? The reason I need to do this is that Excel handles errors differently for SUM than for +. If I get a #VALUE! error because of a non-numeric data input, it won't go away on fixing the data input if the formulas use + instead of SUM. Please ask for clarification if you need it. Thanks!Hi Here is the Process to Change ur +'s and -'s to Sum Function. 1) Open the Excel Sheet 2) Press the Crtl + ~ Key 3) Excel ...... - 2010-03-09

so that the rest of us can get on with reading the other postings. Please.Postvill and Mad Kat: it's a fair question to ask. There is no need to attack the person asking this question. I have wanted something like this also. Having a forum dedicated to complaints about illegal immigration does not detract from the truth of the matter. I am personally opposed to allowing illegal immigrants into the country but I also like to think that there are other questions that can be asked without prospective respondents having to sift endlessly through complaints about illegal immigration. Why are you afraid to hear the facts, the more people who's eyes are open to the problems with illegals the better off this country will be. "Major changes from v4.03 to v4.04 are listed below: ASV can extract font symbols as TTF (True Type Font) files now. Also batch extraction option is added to the File Menu. It's strange that until today nobody has written a tool to accomplish that, because technically it's pretty easy and it is possible since Flash 2.0. The only hurdle is the True Type format itself because its structure is pretty complicated. Well, finally Burak Kalayci has done it: with the latest update of Actionscript Viewer 4.04 you are able to suck the fonts out of any swf file. My congratulations for being the first. Is he injured, out of favor? Why has he been coming off the bench? As one of my fellow Albion fans alluded to in a previous thread, Hughesie's fitness has been an issue since he came back to the Baggies. His preseason training with Coventry, he and Megson have said, have left him ill-prepared for the rigours of the Prem. That's why he's been coming off the bench and playing in as many reserve matches as he can. Ideally, I think Albion would like to see him partnered with Roberts in our usual first XI, but until Lee's fitness improves it will be Dobie/Dichio :p instead......... - 2010-03-09

» Fujifilm's Stake in Toyama Chemical Provides Tamiflu Competitor
Feb. 19 (Bloomberg) -- Fujifilm Holdings Corp.'s planned takeover of Toyama Chemical Co. may give it a medicine to challenge Roche Holding AG's Tamiflu within two years. Fujifilm, Japan's only maker of photographic film, said Feb. 13 that it will buy 66 percent of the Tokyo-based drugmaker to diversify into pharmaceuticals as demand for camera supplies falls. The prize is an experimental influenza treatment that may also fight bird flu and drug-resistant strains. If approved by U.S. regulators, the pill may be ready for sale by December 2009, said Yousuke Furuta, the Toyama scientist who discovered it. The emergence of flu strains capable of evading Tamiflu are prompting doctors to seek alternatives to Roche's best-seller, which broug...... - 2010-03-09

Okay, the basics - She is 4 about to be 5. Her father and I have been together since she was 2, but she thinks I have been there since she was born. I have never asked her to, because her mother was still involved in the past and I didn't want to cross any boundaries. I still haven't asked her too, but she says it often, and I correct her. I am afraid by telling her she can't call me that she may perceive it as I don't want to be a mommy to her. She is the only child we have and we have custody of her. Right now her mother sees her one weekend a month and as of August 2009 her mother will cease to ever see her because she chose to marry an incarcerated sex offender against the court orders ( he gets released in August). ...... - 2010-03-09

» My efc on my fafsa is 0000?
what does this mean and how do schools get the fafsa do the colleges send me stuff when they get itYour EFC is your estimated family contribution. (the amount the Dept of Ed has determined that you can contribute to your education based on income) The Department of Education calculates this figure from the information you provided on your FAFSA. With a 0 EFC, you would be eligible for $4,731 in the Pell Grant and possibly other grants - SEOG. You could be eligible for the maximum amount of $4,731 if you are going to school full time. It does not necessarily mean you will go to school for free. If your tuition is more than $4,731 per FAFSA year (the current FAFSA year is 7/1/2008 - 6/30/2009) you will have to pay for the difference. Also, yo...... - 2010-03-09

...is all. This thread was one about favourite photographers. http://www.thephotoforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15202&postdays=0&postorder=asc&sta rt=15 I mentioned some, others were mentioned and I exchanged a few views with someone who had been taught by one of my favourite photographers. No pictures were posted but I got taken to task by another member about pornography. Well if you read it you'll see. I still don't know what I did wrong. I was wondering if there would be any mileage in having a section for the serious discussions about photographers, photography and associated issues. I do NOT want pictures posted in it - it would be purely for discussions. But I would like it to have a big sign on the door warni...... - 2010-03-09

» Do Tattoos above your butt hurt?
i want a tattoo that will go right above my butt kinda around the hip area but not on the hip bone, since theres all that skin there, how bad is it going to hurt??It's going to hurt your chances of impressing any worthwhile guys. That tattoo is what we call the "tramp stamp". It's a clear identifier. My friends also call it the "disqualification tattoo" (because it disqualifies you from dating or sex with them). But if you're in a really big hurry to make yourself look trashy, cheap, AND utterly unoriginal, it's probably your best bet.Well, you won't like this but, that area was one of the worst spots for me. The love handles were pretty gnarly. Different people have different painful areas though. ...... - 2010-03-09
» Fuji S5: Portrait of a turkey on a basketball
I have been playing with the Fuji S5. Trying to find the limits of this new sensor. So far I like the camera. It's basically a D200. Same lenses, flash, autofocus, etc. It has a slower frame rate than the D200 but the buffer is big enough. The menu system is also very different than on the Nikon. I am getting used to it but it will take some time. The good news it that the controls are well laid out so that you rarely need go into the menus anyway. I decided to push the limits of the camera and try a backlit shot in the shade, no fill flash. This is the shot directly out of the camera. Ya, I know the grass needs cutting but lawn mowers have to wait when there are cameras to be played with. http://www.pbase.com/shoyles/im...... - 2010-03-09

"HOW DO I GET THIS VIDEO TO WORK FOR MY MYSPACE PROFILE?!?!?!" So there is this a music video "Rabbit In Your Headlights" by the band U.N.K.L.E featuring Thom Yorke (of RadioHead)... I want to have it on my myspace profile, BUT it doesn't seem to be working for me! I found the video on google (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7023514649724408263) and tried the add to web page code generator...(copied code and added it to the "about me" section)... however the code does not work for myspace. I have a spray tan and am getting a tattoo in a few weeks. I was wondering if getting a tattoo will affect the spray tan in anyway. I know you're supposed to wait until the tattoo heals before getting a spray tan but I don't know how it works the other way around. And has anyone gone through this themselves. Please help I really want this to work.i would just suggest to call or go to the place u plan to get ur tatoo from and ask themI don't know everything about the spray tan, but if that thing contains strong alcohol, fragrance and something that can effect your pigment so don't do it... » 1, 5, 21, 57, 121, ? and another Question is 321, 301 , ? , 181, 21 please tell what w'd come in place of ?
1+4=5 5+16=21 21+36=57 57+64=121 121+100=221 so ?=221 looking at the pattern, you can see that you add even squares (so 2^2 4^2 6^2 8^2 and 10^2) 321-20=301 301-40=261 261-80=181 181-160=21 so ?=261 looking at the pattern, it goes up 2 times more than the increment before it (20*2 40*2 80*2)The 1st answer is: 1, 5(1+2^2), 21(5+4^2), 57(21+6^2), 121(57+8^2), 221(121+10^2) The 2nd answer is: 321, 301(321-20), 261(301-40), 181(261-80), 21(181-160) Hope this helps:Pidk either sryI dunno i suck at math soo sorry tho :(...... - 2010-03-09

» What happens if you use street hockey goalie pads on ice?
Out of curiosity, what would happen if I were to use my street hockey goalie pads on ice? I have Itech Prodigy's. It won't be serious hard core ice hockey, probably just first time ice hockey with a bunch of friends who are trying out ice hockey for the first time too. I was thinking about the idea of renting a rink to try this out with friends. What would happen to the pads? Absorb water? What else? Thanks.Probable injury to yourself. Ice hockey pads have foams and padding made to withstand a hard slapshot. Plan on going down? I wouldn't. They don't have the proper strapping. BTW...ice time isn't cheap; just figure US$300-$400/hour (and I'm not sure where you live, but ice time isn't always that...... - 2010-03-09

For the past couple weeks I have been on a bit of a landmark kick. That Ben Rothlisberger made 27 million this year and Matt cassell made 500 grand and yet cassell is having a better statistical year and the Pats at 7-4 are only 1 win behind. It's Amazing how overpaid that man is.Big Ben was drafted to be their QB of the future, and QBs (especially ones who have the weight of an entire organization on their shoulder), get payed a lot of money. I wouldn't worry about Matt Cassel though. I hear he is going to be a free agent after this season and that means a bad team like the Lions are probably going to pick him up for a good bit of money. How many playoff games and Super Bowls has Matt Cassell started? How many has he won? Don't fret because there was once a backup QB in New England who...... - 2010-03-09
» New Tripod, Which one?
Alright, I need a new tripod for my Sony Cybershot DSC-W5 and I don't know which one to get, or even how to tell which one will work! I admit I am a total noob. I really don't want to pay more than $40 or $50, I just want one that will get the job done. Thanks in advance for any help given!Welcome to the forum. Your camera is pretty small, so any tripod should be adequate to handle the weight. The issue then becomes price and function. Do you want one that has a 3-way head? Or something more simple like a video type head that does not flip on it's side? Do you want one that has a quick release plate? I'd suggest going to a camera shop, if you can, and seeing the different styles. Pick one that is comfortable for you. You could p...... - 2010-03-09

I went to a party one night, made some bad decisions and experimented with cocain then ended up in a hospital the same night for a seperate issue. They gave me a test at the hospital which I obviously came up positive for. Im currently in college, hoping to one day attend medical school. Im just wondering if this one mistake I made can ruin this.Medical information is confidential. It would take a court order for an outside party to obtain the record, and given the lack of accuracy in drug screens, it would hardly matter if it were published, at least not to any thinking person.Your info would be in the database of the hospital. First off, a little about my setup: I have a Xenium ICE chip on my XBox that has been modded for years. I also have the official M$ hi-def cable going to my older, non-high def TV (8yr-old Mitsubishi 50" rear projection). I use this one because A. it's component and B. it has the digital output for my sound system. I'm writing this at work, so I'm away from the XBox right now. I'll be as specific as memory allows. I have always run XBMC as my default dashboard without a problem, however yesterday I downloaded the latest version of the T3CH build (rev10259) and installed it. But it is not TB itself that is on the rise--instead, the problem lies with the growing number of "pseudoepidemics," or clusters of false-positives for TB that are the result of universal testing with a notoriously inaccurate tuberculin skin test (TST) and inconsistent procedures for interpreting those tests in low-risk populations. » Need Opinions about live-in nannies please.?
I am a single mom and will soon be in a situation where I can have a live in nanny in a detached, private studio apartment behind my house. What I am wondering is, since I will be providing the apartmenht and paying all the utilities, is it possible to just provide room and board and not pay the person any money? Ideally, I want a retired person, who has their own income to be his nanny, so it would really be a win-win situation for both of us. For me, I wouldn't have to pay daycare expenses and the nanny would be close by so he wouldn't have to wake up until he was ready in the morning, instead of like now he has to get up at 7 a.m. when he would sleep until 9 if I didn't wake him up. I work for a small, but very successful company in the computer industry, doing graphic arts and programming. I'm having an issue with my boss/mentor that I'm looking for a way to solve. We're great friends, as well as coworkers, so I know that any attempt I make to help solve this problem that I see he has will not be met with resentment. Basically, I find that he has problems communicating what he wants, what he likes about something, and what he doesn't like about something. For example, if he doesn't like something, he'll just tell me, "That looks like shit. Change it... to something better." But he is unable to tell me what should be changed, or why it looks 'like shit.' However, if I make so...... - 2010-03-09

The Vietnamese stock market has become an attractive destination for Japanese investors with 100,000 of them expected to open share trading accounts in Viet Nam in the next few years, said a representative of a Japan-based investment corporation. Mr. Shigekazu Utsunomiya, General Director of the Japanese consultancy Million Millionaires Project Company (TMMP) told a Vietnamese newspaper that Japanese investors see Viet Nam as a "dawning" country with a young population and fast-growing economy. "The Japanese economy has become much more sluggish since 1990 and the stock market is mature and no longer attractive to us.

» Conversation with Aristotle
If you could travel backwards in time to converse with Aristotle, and assuming 1)you are fluent in the Greek language of his time, and 2) have convinced him you are not insane and are a time traveler from the future, and 3)have a commanding knowledge of current scientific principles, how would you disprove his concepts of (pick one) Astronomy, Physics, Chemistry, Technology in a manner intelligible to him? Remember, he was a master logician.Dear monroe22-ga; Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting question. One of Aristotle?s theories was that the universe was geocentric (Earth centered) rather than heliocentric (Sun centered). » Help me with this please . . .
OK so I don't have a lot of time on my hands lately and someone who was aking for basic help understanding manual settings on thier camera was refered to this link by someone on a non-camera forum. I did not have time to properly study it for validity but my first impression was that if accurate it is at the very least, very confusing for the ultra-beginner. Any thoughts? The more I read of it the more I think that whoever wrote it really doesn't have the right idea, or is reading from a textbook somewhere, or just really wants to sound smart (or all of the above!) or it could be that I have now had three whiskey cokes after a 13 hour shift and don't even know what I am talking about anymore! Anyway, what do you think? http://w...... - 2010-03-09

He said the disease that broke out in Dufile, Metu and Moyo town council was imported from adjumani district by local people. » Software that teaches about computers
Can you find software that is designed to teach about the computer itself (such as: the parts of the computer, history of the computer, computer vocabulary) or designed to teach computer applications (such as a computer program teaching about Mircosoft Word, Excel, Publisher, etc.) I need the software to be suitable to elementary school kids, and it would be benefical if it also could include teacher guides or manuels. I would like as many different choices as possible. Also, the cheaper the better, so if is possible to find the above in a shareware or freeware version, that would help! :-) Thanks so much! This is an interesting question, but it may not receive a good answer at the price you have set. » If animal testing were banned...?
Then how would we find treatments or possibly cures for diseases such as AIDS or cancer? Would we have to test on humans? I also have another question. If someone that you really cared about had cancer or any other deadly disease, would you turn to products that used animal testing to try and find a cure or treatment for him/her? I am not for or against animal testing. But I do wonder if anyone can provide a detailed answer as to the alternatives of animal testing. Please, no PETA videos or answers that go along the lines of 'Because it's unethical and cruel to animals!!' I've heard enough of that. Also note that I think that testing cosmetics on animals is completely absurd and unnecessary, but my question is obvio...... - 2010-03-09
» Yashica 635
I got my Yashica 635 for 75 bucks! For those who are familar its a TLR (twin lens reflex) that takes 120 film BUT this one was special it was the only TLR that Yashica made that took both 120 AND 35mm, but you needed a insert to plug into the hole for it to work, plus it was vertical only. Anyway i had my repair shop go over it and its works 100% with one exception, the self timer does not work (though he said 99% of all yashica tlr's he sees have the same thing) Either way i've used it a few times and have had some success with it, i don't shoot 120 too much and its not exactly easy to use. Made around 1958 it has no meter or battery. In addition it came with the 35mm insert, the leather case, and the case for the insert, all in nea...... - 2010-03-09

I'm working on designing a business plan for my commercial art class and i need to make a plausible report. i need a grant from some safety organization or other. my goal is to help my product promote safety while doing outside activities and such. who would i contact about that? i have search online and on US.Gov, etc, and i can't find what I'm looking for. it can be a national department (US) or it could be state (FLORIDA) county (MIAMI DADE) or local (CITY OF MIAMI)The only Grant I know anything about is Ulysses. Maybe we could partner up.The most likely jobs for someone your age would be something along the lines of helping out your neighbors with babysitting, mowing their lawn, shoveling snow, raking leaves, walking dogs, pet-sitting, wrapping gifts, etc. If you're feeling entrepreneurial, you can always try to sell things or advertise your skills in the local newspapers. » Samples, Limits, Speed
Hi This software seems pretty good, a few questions. 1. Do you have samples of large websites that use your software - I actually found it in the posts somewhere but can't find it again ! 2. I don't think this is in the standard version, but is there a way to limit the total number of posts in a topic. For example, limit a topic to the first 1,000 posts and then anyone who tries to post cannot? Or another way to do it, can the topics be closed off at a certain time without having to manually do it? 3. How does PHP compare to an ASP forum in terms of speed? 4. Lastly, is the complete code provided? I will need to change certain words like "Topic" to "Seminar". And oh yeah, I want my forum to be exactly like the width of t...... - 2010-03-09

» Is it okay to let my step daughter call me mommy? ?

It does not necessarily mean you will go to school for free. i want a tattoo that will go right above my butt kinda around the hip area but not on the hip bone, since theres all that skin there, how bad is it going to hurt??It's going to hurt your chances of impressing any worthwhile guys.

I have a half of a five dollar bill. i dont know what happened to the other half. is there any way to get a new one?$5 is not a lot. Try your local friendly bank. They may give you "something" for it. You may have to sign for it though. People, in drunken stupor, in a bar play like this - rip money and laugh that they have doubled your money. It is plain stupid. Like passports, Hard currency, don't forget - is government property. One can get arrested for damaging federal property. Since it is not so big an amount - you do not have to worry about it so much.If you have more than half the bill remaining, you'll get full credit. Whoever has the smaller piece is out of luck. I think a bank may give you a portion (40%) of ...... - 2010-03-09
» A Nice, Warm Day in Ohio
Here is one image from my shoot today. Let me know what you think! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v50/ocyrus55/IMG_2641.jpg Thanks for looking.I like the light accents around the hair. A little fill on her face would have helped bring out her eyes.Hmm.. ok, I hate to bring it up but.. her right hand could be uh... in a bad place.... Not sure where I would have put it but... not there... other than that.. I love the pose and background and all.Hah thanks for the input. I will watch out for that next time.OK ... I did not see the "hand-problem" as clearly, all I saw (and got attracted to) was her backlit hair, which I like a lot here (and everywhere). Her look over her shoulder is nice, too. She is too young and too well in shape ...... - 2010-03-09
» When and where is the next live chat with the jonas brothers?
im a huge jonas brother fan and i want to knowthey had a chat on september 15, 2007. since then, i don't think they've had one. there was a rumor they were going to have their second chat on august 12, 2008, but i was on justin.tv at that time, and there was no chat. unless you hear it straight from their mouths, theres really no way to know for sure when the next live chat will be. just keep your ears open for any news; i know i will be! (:Well, their previous chats were on: 1) 23rd September 2007 2) 12th August 2008 So, I'm guessing that their 3rd one will be around July 2009? » Which job in finance would help me make the highest starting salary?
Okay i have just been accepted to a undergraduate business program at Rutgers University and after i get my undergraduate i plan to get my MBA from a top graduate business school. My choices are MIT-Sloan UPENN-Wharton NYU and Boston University should i pursue finance or would i make more money in another field and what type of job makes a high starting salaryScrew Sloan and Wharton. They're both overrated. Stern at NYU is the best! It's even the closest to Wall Street itself! I'm just kidding you. Anywhere you go will be fine. Just make sure to go! Honestly, finance is a crap shoot. Now is not the hottest time to pull the slick stuff right out of the gate. However, I'm sure that by the time you get out, the e...... - 2010-03-09

» When answering religion questions, why do some atheists type *drink* before they type?
Why exactly?because everything is funnier when you're drunk .It's not just atheists, it's to signify that the question has been asked multiple times before, into the thousands.*drink* nor do i, but i am atheist. It's an easy way to answer a question that is repeated on a daily basis, by the same group of people who should already know the answer before they ask. Damn... that was a LONG time ago.Because they're drunks?*drink**drink* It's the response to questions that get asked waaaaay too many times. We turned those questions into a drinking game. » US Soldiers In High-tuberculosis Areas Face New Epidemic: False Positives
Source: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/05/080530074251.htm US Soldiers In High-tuberculosis Areas Face New Epidemic: False Positives ScienceDaily (Jun. 2, 2008) — U.S. Army service members are increasingly deployed in regions of the world where tuberculosis (TB) is rampant, such as Iraq and Afghanistan, and the military now faces a growing medical problem. These false positives tests have bec...... - 2010-03-09

The nanny would have a free apartm...... - 2010-03-09

Two years ago, the latest research seemed to indicate that Eldepryl (Selegiline HCl) was a promising drug for slowing down the progression or deterioration of Parkinson's Disease. Has more recent research (and any meta-analysis of that research) supported the likelihood that this drug is effective for that specific purpose? Or weakened the support? Or shifted the thinking about just what are the precise benefits for early-stage Parkinson's patients? Or discredited the drug entirely?Hi! Thanks for the question. The only options I remembered before Windows XP was installed was that it shows 1)something like quick format and 2)format. I chose the second option because I thought that would be better since I have 2 HDD. » Real estate photography
Hi, I would like to photograph real estate properties doing virtual tour photography. I have been looking all over the net trying to find out how to get started at this and can't find anything- book, website. Can anyone help me or give me any advise. Thanks, Frankhiya Frank  a few years ago - i was into messing around with some software made by Photovista - which enabled you to 'stitch' photos together to create 360 panoramas. people didnt have to have the plug-in to view this, you could have this viewer on a webpage running with java. of course that viewer was, as 'within' a subject looking around you. if you want an outside view of something - and the ability to spin it, to view its surface either clockwise or a...... - 2010-03-09
» Book/AudioCassette on How to Express Oppinions and Views

» Lens help?? :)
What's the best kind of lens to use for photographing people?? I have a Cannon 20D with the the basic 18-55mm lens. I would really like to invest in another, more high-tech lens, but I'm not sure what to get!!! Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!! ~Jaimei have the same camera. the lens i have is a 17-85ef-s USM lens. it's made for the smaller sensor cameras so it will be real wide angle and it also goes up to 85 which gives you a tad bit of telephoto use. it's a great lens. it also has image stabilize. i think it's great. it's not a big lens so you don't have to worry about weight being an issue.Generally if you are talking about portraits, prime lenses are highly recommended. I would pick up a nice 50mm, something around 75mm and one ...... - 2010-03-09
» 100,000 Japanese Investors go to Vietnam
But in Viet Nam, the market is very new and continues to rise, so we will invest heavily in it," he said. To help investo...... - 2010-03-09
